What If Sir Daniel Fortesque Was in Smash? (Moveset Ideas: 116) (2024)

I asked for a Sir Daniel Fortesque moveset years ago, and now that wish has finally come to fruition.

I like to imagine the Palutena's guidance for Dan would go like this.
Pit: Why is there a skeleton wearing armor?
Palutena: That is Sir Daniel. He was one of the greatest heroes who sacrificed himself to slay an evil necromancer... What they want you to believe, he actually only became a knight because he made the king laugh and the necromancer who at the time was his assistant urged him to.
Daniel: *mumbles* Hey!
Pit: Huh. He heard you.
Daniel: *mumbles* Tell him the rest!
Palutena: Hehe okay Daniel. Zarok launched a war and Sir Daniel died by the first arrow. Zarok was defeated by the other warriors. Years later Zarok returned and rose an army of the undead but he accidentally brought back Daniel who he defeated Zarok.
(i like to imagine one of the dead heroes from the hall showing up and saying something)

19:00 maybe the gravestone could list the fighter that Dan knocked out the most, or did the most damage to.

Wasn't expecting him but definitely fitting for Halloween.

Honestly, does Homestuck count as a video game since although it's a webcomic, has many interactive elements in it? Hiveswap hasn't been completed yet, so a moveset for her will definitely take a while)
John Thomas Ward from Faith: The Unholy Trinity (An very interesting game that takes inspiration from Atari 2600 and Apple II in terms of graphics. It's a horror game, so viewer discretion is advised. Hope this one gets a lot of requests, such a cool game!)
Pyramid Head from Silent Hill ("The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments". If you are a fan of Silent Hill, you understand what I'm saying)
W.D. Gaster from Undertale (even though his identity is a mystery, I think there is a lot that can done for a moveset of him. That said, I'd wait for Deltarune's completion as his ideantity could be answered there)

12:07 this little thing here made me realize how Daniel and the hero of time have some paralels, being similar but also the opposite of each other, Danial wasn't a hero but was remembered as such, while the hero of time was a hero but wasn't remembered for it, both became a undead knight but one is this goofy cartoony knight while the other is this more serious and realistic one, which has even more irony considering its Nintendo with the realistic one while Sony has the more goofy one

When I saw the word "champ" on a halloween vid, I had a feeling it'd be Dan. Medievil became one of my fav games to play this time of year once I got my hands on the PS4 remake, so I couldn't be happier

I don't have any predictions, but I wanted to request Cadence from Crypt of the Necrodancer, I'd be interested in seeing a character that utilizes both rhythm mechanics and rougelike ones.

I love how silly and slapstick-like all the throws are. 😂 This was an overall fun video and a great way to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve.

Sir Daniel Fortesque is such a cool character plus he needed it because he is really bad in PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale since he is weak and slow.

James Sunderland (Silent Hill) You could design the move set around disjointed melee weapons and guns with the main idea of keeping your opponents as far away from you as possible just like in the Silent Hill games.
Teddy (The Darkest Tales) A cool game with twisted subversion's of fairy tales, cool weapons, and great story. Plus he uses scissors as his main weapon which not many characters in games do that.
Gunman Clive (Gunman Clive) Could work like mega man ,with him mainly using projectiles, since his games are very similar to the mega man games.
Dr.Nefarious (Ratchet and Clank) The most popular villain of the Ratchet and Clank series with some of the best boss fights the games have. Plus you could have a victory animation with him laughing so hard he freezes up and Lawrence has to slap him to restart him.😂

Halloween related episode and also a champ,my guess is Morrigan,after all the tournament was for declare the champion of the Darkstalkers,a tournament made for monsters.

Been asking for Sir Dan since the first PS Allstars fighter was mentioned. That game did the guy dirty but good to see Brawlfan did him justice ^^

I would personally love to see Asura from Asura's Wrath as a playable character in Smash, he and his game are quite underrated and I personally think Asura would fit perfectly.
I have thought of a few things for his moveset, alternative costumes, Intro and Victory animations and Final Smash. I'd personally love to tell you more about it and even brainstorm some more with you, if you'd like.

If you can do Akuma, here's my moveset for him:
A button attacks:
Neutral jab: A left jab, followed by a short straight left palm thrust, then a mighty right punch. His weak, medium and right punches from SFIII
Strong neutral attack (far): A spinning hook kick. His usual standing heavy kick
Strong neutral attack (close): An uppercut
Dash attack: To differentiate himself from Ryu and Ken he uses the Sekiseiken, in which he leaps into the air and does a mighty karate chop into the ground on the descent
Side tilt: His standing medium kick from SFIII
Side tilt (close): An inward hook
Strong side tilt: The Zugaihasatsu, in which he delivers an open palm chop to the opponent’s head, hitting them twice overhead
Up tilt: His close standing light punch from SFIII
Strong up tilt: Tenha from SFV, an upward palm strike that hits almost vertically above him.
Down tilt: His crouching light kick from SSFII: Turbo
Strong down tilt: His crouching medium kick from SSFII: Turbo
Side smash: The Kongoken from SFV, in which he delivers a strong punch with his leading arm. Once his attack connects, Akuma pivots toward his opponent and finishes the combo by hammering his other fist on top of them.
Up smash: Rakan Gosho from SFV, which is a upwards kick

Down smash: Kongou Kokuretsuzan, a secret Super Art first introduced in SFIII: Third Strike. Akuma puts his hand up and charges it with energy, violently slamming his fist on the ground; the resulting explosion of pure energy first takes the form of a lightning bolt, and then emanates outwards in a shock wave of energy that rises from the ground as a geyser formation. This down smash is exceptionally lethal and deadly, as it has high knockback and KO power. Akuma also has super armor while performing this smash attack. After Akuma finishes the attack he'll be wide open, so be careful!
Neutral aerial: A downward angled knee strike
Forward aerial: A flying kick
Back aerial: An outside crescent kick
Up aerial: An upwards left kick
Down aerial: The Tenmakujinkyaku, which is just a simple dive kick. It’s capable of spiking if it connects properly.
The grabs:
Grabs: He reaches out for his opponent
Pummel: A knee strike while holding the opponent in the collar-and-elbow position. It is based on Ken's Tsukami Hizageri throw in the Street Fighter Alpha/Zero games.
Forward throw: The Goshoha, in which Akuma grabs his opponent by the collar and pulls them towards him. He then takes a step forward and delivers a palm strike to his opponent's midsection, knocking them on their back.
Back throw: The Shuretsuzan from SFV, in which Akuma first grabs his opponent by the collar. As he pulls them towards him, he pivots around his opponent, switching sides in the process. After releasing his opponent, Akuma delivers a side kick to their face, sending them tumbling over on their stomach.
Up throw: A stretch kick transitioned into an axe kick.
Down throw: The Shuretto, in which he pins the opponent to the ground and delivers a knifehand strike to his opponent.
The Specials:
Neutral B: "Gohadoken" A stronger version of the Hadoken. Inputting the ↓ ↘ → + attack/special command powers up this move. He can also do the Shakunetsu Hadoken by doing the ← ↙ ↓ ↘ → + attack/special command. This is a multi-hitting Hadoken. If you do the Hadoken in the air, he'll fire the Zankuu Hadoken in a 45° angle.

Side B: "Tatsumaki Zankukyaku" A stronger three hitting version of the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku. Inputting the ↓ ↙ ← + attack/special command powers up this move, which sees the move having flashy purple electric effects. The inputted version also rises up at an angle before Akuma kicks his opponent back down for the final hit. The final kick spikes opponents if it sweetspots.

Up B: "Goshoryuken" A stronger three hitting version of the Shoryuken. Inputting the → ↓ ↘ + attack/special command powers up this move, which sees his fist being covered by purple flames, and it ends with Akuma slamming his opponent back to the ground like in SFV. It's a devastating and powerful knifehand strike that can meteor smash opponents.


Down B: "Rakan" Akuma strikes a defensive stance. While in this stance, he can parry a single incoming attack, similar to Ryu's Focus Attack. During the rotation, Akuma has a couple of follow-up options. By pressing A, Akuma performs the Rakan Gosho which is a palm strike toward his opponent. By pressing B, Akuma performs Rakan Gokyaku, which is an upward kick.
Final Smash: "Shun Goku Satsu" His infamous and iconic Super Combo seen in EVERY Capcom fighting game to ever behold, and one of the reasons why Akuma is the most threatening Street Fighter character ever. Let's be honest, it ain't Akuma without this move. Upon activating the Final Smash, he furiously stomps the ground and shouts “DIE ONE THOUSAND DEATHS!” while the 一瞬千撃 kanjis appear in the background. He then uses the Ashura Zenkuu to glide to his opponent in order to grab them. Once he grabs the opponent, the background turns to pitch-black darkness. A cinematic then plays where Akuma proceeds to violently thrash his opponent with a series of progressively fast and lethal teleport punches around the opponent’s body, the same as it is in Street Fighter V. Once the attack finishes, the screen turns back to normal and it shows Akuma turning his back next to his downed opponent while the infamous 天 kanji appears on his back. He then shouts, “MESSATSU!” This Final Smash deals a ton of damage, and if the opponent’s damage is at 100% or above, they will be instantly KO’d.
Stage entrance: He just stands there with his back turned. The 天 kanji appears on his back, then he turns to his opponent, saying “I am Akuma. And I will teach you the meaning of PAIN!”
The taunts:
#1: He turns away from his opponent with his back turned. The 天 kanji appears on his back and he says “Shameful!”
#2: He furiously stomps the ground, striking a threatening pose while a dark red aura surrounds him.
#3: He crosses his arms while asking “Do demons frighten you?”


Victory theme: A short remix of his theme from Street Fighter IV.
Victory animations:
#1: Akuma raises his hand up, then slams his fist on the ground similar to his Kongou Kokuretsuzan move while he says “Both heaven and earth tremble before my might!” This is his victory animation from SFIV.
#2: He turns away from the camera with his back turned while he stands in a fiery area. The 天 kanji appears on his back while his head turns to look at the camera, and then he says “I am power made flesh. My fists know NO equal!"
#3: He stands there ominously, then he strikes a pose with his arms out while letting out a skyward roar. This is his victory animation from SFV

Before the video starts, here are some characters that I think could have an interesting moveset (with some explanation of why) :
Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.
To represent the horror video-game genre as a whole, I think Pyramid Head is one of the most known horror game characters, and if a horror game character would come in Smash, I'd guess Pyramid Head. And bru he made it into freaking Bomberman, no one's gonna tell me he cannot be in Smash.
Gregory & Glamrock Freddy from FNaF Security Breach.
Even tho I hate this game, there could be some cool mechanics with Freddy's battery for example, like, Gregory could have his moveset, then, after 50 secs, he could get in Freddy and have a totally different moveset. Also, maybe Gregory could get out of Freddy, and if Freddy dies, it'd just resets his battery to 0% and the player has to wait 50 secs for Freddy to fully recharge or something.
Gordon Freeman from Half-Life.
I was sure you made a Half-Life character moveset before, but it seems my brain made up a souvenir x). Anyway, I think he has way enough tools to make a good moveset out of him!
Any SCP from the SCP Foundation.
I think the most fit to combat for the most known SCPs is SCP-049, the plague doctor dude. But you may have better ideas if you think about it!

This game ain't popular or anything, it's just my favorite game, and I've already written a moveset for him. But yeah, the games are based around items and finding ways to solve things with said items. It'd be a very interesting moveset! And a 2D pixel-art character would be sick in Smash!

Viridi: to be honest pit, I didn’t see you as a fan of him?
Pit: are you kidding? Sir Dan fought off the undead armies made by Zarok, and even slayed Zarok right when Dan was near death’s door. It just shows what a hero he was.
Viridi: *chortle* HAHAHAHAHAHA. Pit did you seriously believe all that?
Pit: what? But he is a hero. Really.
Viridi: really? Because as I was told, he got shot on the first charge of arrows. He didn’t even do anything. The only reason people knew him as a hero was that the king liked dans stories.
Pit: so. The legend was a lie?
Palutena: not quite. Once Zarok returned and resurrected the dead, Daniel fortesque was also brought back from the dead, giving him a chance to prove he is a hero.
Viridi: well I have to admit. If it weren’t for the goofball, Zarok would’ve been making London a totally different place.
Palutena: back to the fight at hand. He has multiple weapons that were given to him by the many heroes he met at the hall of heroes. Like the enchanted broadsword, a crossbow, his shield, an axe, and even the chalice of souls.
Pit: woah. That’s a lot. Umm. Any way I can avoid all that?
Palutena: try and outmaneuver sir Dan until he has an opening, then you can show him if skyworld’s best angel can take on gallowmere’s best knight.
Pit: a test of who is truly the greatest knight? This is the best day EVER. Alright Dan. Let’s see who’s got more muscle or bone. Uh. No offense.

I have a request. I think it would be cool to see the Pac-Man Ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde) in smash as separate characters and not part of Pac-Man's moveset. For starters, they would all appear in their Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures designs. Like Bowser Jr, you would be able to change the ghost you play as by changing your character color, or having them be a tag-team of four would also be cool. Each ghost would have one alternate color; their Turn-To-Blue designs, unless they were a tag-team of four, then you could get very creative with their alternate colors. Each ghost would have different taunts also. I'd love to see this be a video of yours. If you see this, thank you for reading.

This is a hard one to predict. I can't think of a whole lot of halloweeny characters that really fit the title of "champ". The only one that really comes to mind is Sir Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins, but since no one else is talking about him I'm not very confidant about that. Looking forward to finding out who it is.
EDIT: Sir Daniel was definitely a pleasant surprise. I really like the way you characterized him as being goofy and clumsy, but still trying come off as honorable. As a side note, did you intentionally set up all these sword users in a row? Because if so, that's really funny.

Idea for the Diablo (Diablo series) moveset (in case it ever happens). Diablo's final smash will have him summon the other prime evils and have them all attacking their foe. A potential victory screen could have the prime evils (Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo) all plotting in a distorted, hellish version of the victory stage (in Diablo, powerful demons actually distort the area around them over time, making it similar to the burning hells) and Diablo's skins would have his previous three appearances (Diablo 1, 2, and 3) and recolours of said skins.

well i did not expect this guy and also the move set you gave him was pretty good. i was wondering if you could do a skylander since the game i feel needs to make a great return but then i realize who should come to smash and show that skylanders can make a great return then i thought why not the main villain who has appeared in every game the short child looking but still dangerous villain of all skylands chaos. he would fit perfectly in the villain roster and i imagen him being at the same weight as bowser jr and even then thanks to him being in every skylander game you have tones of sources to use. soo yeah chaos is a character i hope gets a smash move set but i am not saying or implying do it now. just take your time and i hope you have a great day.

Hear me out, what if a Unit from Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS) was in smash. It could be a single super unit who uses different weapons from different factions in the original TABS. For example forward tilt could be a simple strike ahead with a clubber's club, but then other things like back air with a blast from the blunderbuss unit. Neutral special a forward electric shot like the Zues unit. Or all the attacks could be from a single faction like Tribal, and the gimmick is switching factions say to Medieval with different weapons. There's a lot of possibilities!

Are you just going to do everyone who was in PS All-Stars? Cause I think you should, there are some really cool obscure characters on that roster that deserve more love.

Marnie from Pokémon sword and shield (Morpeko, Scrafty and Grimmsnarl roughly mimic the 3-stage thing the Pokémon trainer movesets have going on)
Artoria/Saber from the Fate franchise (She could differentiate herself from other Anime Swordsmen via her blade being invisible most of the time making her attacks hard to read)
Kalos Trainer (Since Greninja is already in the roster, I think it would be interesting for you to do a moveset with pokemon other than the starters, perhaps you could use the Pyroar, Noivern, Aegislash, Meowstic, Tyrantrum, or Aurorus lines)
Behemoth from the Final Fantasy franchise (a fully quadrupedal fighter could make an interesting moveset)
Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII (his gunblade could set him apart from the other "anime swordfighters")
Lightning from Final fantasy (easily up there with Cloud and squall as a recognizable final fantasy main character)
Ann Takamaki/Panther from Persona 5 (being a whip user could allow for a more disjointed moveset to contrast Joker)

Its I.M.P. made up of Blitzo.Moxxie,and Millie from the online show Helluva Boss. Its got a season and in the middle of its second season but I think its got enough matrial for a moveset for them.

The moveset was interesting, nothing which I can complain with, even with the axe boomerang which still feels weird to me as a Down Special, though it makes sense why. Question with the Up Special and Neutral Air since I can't remember their move names, isn't the Up Special just an upgrade to the Neutral Air? If I knew the game better, maybe I could ask better questions.

Down: fires both of Axl's pistols in both directions. Can be tilted up.
Grab: simple grab
Pummel: a punch to the stomach
Throws:
Forward: tosses enemy forward and fires three shots into their torso. Little to no launch power.
Back: tosses them enemy behind them and slashes them with the Z-saber.
Up: kicks the enemy upward with both feet. Kill throw.
Down: steps on the opponent while they're on the ground and fires three charged shots (blue) into their back.
Specials:
Neutral: (Charge shot) X charges his Mega Buster. You can tell how much it's charged by the aura X generates while it charges.
No aura: fires a single pellet forward, barely any damage
Blue: a stronger, faster, bigger shot that deals about the same damage as Samus' fully charged Neutral special.
Green: a big green projectile that pierces through enemies and the stage itself.
Red: X fires a helix charged shot that does multiple hits and cannot be reflected.
(Note: all of these forms can be fired while doing X's down tilt)
Side special: (Homing Torpedo/Boomerang Cutter) fires Launch Octopus' Homing Torpedo forward. Flies at high speed. If the stick is flicked, he fires Boomer Kuwanger's Boomerang Cutter forward. Collects items and brings them back to X, does the same amount of damage as Mega Man's Metal Blade, nearly no knockback.
Up: (thrusters) flies upwards with his thrusters. Spikes enemies directly below him at the beginning of his flight path. Acts similar to Snake's Cipher (it allows him to use his other attacks other than up B, can be canceled by moving the left joystick down, doesn't put him into free fall)
Down B: (Rolling Shield) uses Armored Armadillo's rolling shield, firing it forward. Bounces off of enemies and the stage, reflects projectiles.
Final smash: (Ultimate Armor X) X dawns the Ultimate Armor for 30 seconds, buffing his damage and launch power and making his neutral b or smash attacks not require charging to do max damage. During this, X also has Super Armor, but be careful, as X is vulnerable to damage for 10 seconds when the Final Smash ends.

Taunts:
Up: points Z-saber towards the sky and says "For a better tomorrow"
Side: points back towards camera dramatically
Down: looks toward the camera as his color scheme changes to the person he's fighting. This is a reference to how once you complete a stage, you get that stage's boss' weapon as well as their color palette when you switch to that weapon.
Victory animations:
1: Puts hand to the side of his head while looking away and says "This is X/Zero, mission complete, returning to base" and teleports away
2: swings Z-saber before sheathing it and says "Maverick destroyed."
3: Is shown completely still before striking a pose
Stage intro: the classic teleporting in. If you're Zero, he says "This will be over in a nanosecond"

For Sir Daniel Fortesque, I think of only one thing : he HAS TO take damages when he swim (like Sonic). In his games, he sinks/dies in deep water. For the rest, I agree for the Moveset and I like it.

OK color me suprised, honestly I hoped it would have been a character from a more violent horror game (like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Bioshock, Dead by Daylight etc.) but this is a very well done set!
I mean i know you haven't looked at his set in PSABR but...he was LAME in that game. I'm sorry but his moveset and everything just wasn't built for that game, it wasn't possible to be competetive with him because his moveset despite having many references from his game just lack in the engaging despartment.
So you sir...did a fantastic job!
